How it works

How MyRetireNumber.com Estimates Retirement Readiness

MyRetireNumber.com estimates retirement readiness, savings needs, and Social Security filing scenarios from the information entered by the user. The site does not pull bank data, verify benefits, or decide what someone should do next.

The result is an estimate. It depends on savings, contributions, spending, Social Security estimates, income, timing, and assumptions entered into the active engine. Blank numeric fields are treated as zero.

When assumptions are used, they are shown near the results. The goal is to make the math understandable enough that a user can review it, question it, and adjust their numbers.

The decision center is meant to help people understand options and tradeoffs. It does not make decisions for users, replace official Social Security or tax sources, or provide financial, investment, tax, legal, Social Security, Medicare, insurance, retirement planning, or professional advice.

The final decision always belongs to the user. This site exists to make the situation easier to see clearly, one step at a time.
